We developed the GC5 gas chromatograph to deliver the highest performance GC-IRMS system for biogeochemistry and forensic research. 

Compound-specific isotope analysis provides a deep-level insight into many geochemical and forensic applications and is considered to be a crucial technique for many laboratories. GC5 offers picomole sensitivity levels for low concentration analytes, while maintaining chromatographic integrity for sample peaks during compound conversion.

The GC5 furnace system offers the very highest levels of sensitivity for C, N, O & H isotopes, resulting in outstanding levels of detection for the most demanding applications. The highly robust micro-reactors provide zero dead volume, whilst offering highly dependable levels of oxidation over long timescales, giving unbeatable, lasting performance.

GC5 furnace system  

The GC5 furnace system is a high-performance silicon carbide furnace for providing combustion/pyrolysis temperatures for quantitative, fractionation-free conversion of organic compounds to pure gases. The GC5 system is designed to accept our robust furnace tubes, which are proven to maintain the chromatographic integrity of the separated compounds, resulting in excellent chromatography through to the IRMS.

Agilent 7890B GC 

We are a global VAR partner of Agilent Technologies, allowing us to take full advantage of the market-leading 7890B GC system for our compound-specific isotope analysis. The full functionality of the 7890B GC system is supported for stable isotope analysis, including an array of autosamplers, injector types and additional detector options. Meanwhile, the standard instrument is supplied with a split/splitless injection system and a flame ionization detector (FID). 

  • Make your analysis go further with the Agilent 7693 autosamplerwith 150 sample vial positions, the Agilent 7950 autosampler with 50 sample vial positions, or the CTC PAL3 autosampler 

  • For greater confidence in your GC-IRMS results, add the Agilent 5977B MSD for simultaneous identification and isotope analysis from a single injection 

  • Choose the right injector for your analysis with options for on-column, PTV, and multimode inlets. Add additional GC detectors such as TCD, ECD, or NPD for expanded analytical capabilities (only one additional detector can be installed) 

  • Optional natural gas kit provides a complete solution for analyzing δ13C and δD isotopes in light hydrocarbons
