CHNS, CHN, CNS and CN analysis are all available with the basic unit; optional detection of O, CI and TIC can also be enabled.
Users who initially purchase a basic configuration can later choose to upgrade the equipment at any time.
High-temperature combustion unit:
Quantitative sample digestion at up to 1,200°C, or 1,800°C at the point of combustion when tinfoil is used, with a ten-year furnace warranty. This is the prerequisite for 100% recovery, even when dealing with samples that are difficult to combust - jet injection of oxygen directly to the sample leads to the highest oxygen concentrations at the point of combustion, as well as low gas consumption.
Largest weighing range:
Spanning from micro (<1 mg) to macro (800 mg soil) sample weight, depending on requirements, and up to 20 mg of organic matter.
Largest dynamic range of element concentrations and element ratio:
Up to 40 mg C abs, or 15 mg N abs, from ppm to 100%.
Purge and trap chromatography:
Separation of gaseous components on up to three specific columns for perfect separation without overlap, and automatic optimization of the analysis time.

PC-based instrumentation control:
Full digitalization of the instrument allows for remote operation from a standard PC and perfect results, even when dealing with unknown or heavily variable sample matrices. The integrated standard sample feeder accommodates 80 samples, with 21 CFR part 11 functionality also available.

The elemental analyzer forms a system with an electronic microbalance, which is offered alongside analytical balances from the leading manufacturers with our instruments.

This instrument is specially optimized for use with IRMS and Isoprime-branded instruments; please refer to the documentation for the vario ISOTOPE cube for more information.
Alternative carousels are available for larger samples, with a volume of up to 1 cm3.
Oxygen upgrade kit:
For upgrading the basic unit to facilitate oxygen determination with a pyrolysis temperature of up to 1,150 °C. This enables conversion of the bound oxygen to CO, and detection with the built-in TCD, or alternatively with IR technology.
Sulfur analysis upgrade kit:
Used to upgrade the basic instrument for highly precise sulphur determination in the trace concentration range.
Chlorine upgrade kit:
For upgrading the basic instrument for the determination of chlorine. The sample can be combusted at 1,150 °C, with electrochemical sensors used to detect the formed HCl.
Add-on for the analysis of total inorganic carbon.
Manual gas/liquid injection system:
For the injection of liquid or gaseous samples via a septum-free injector port and a micro-syringe.
Steel combustion tubes:
Longer-lasting tubes for use when carrying out CHN and CN analysis of extremely aggressive samples.
For the dosing and airtight sealing of tin capsules for liquid and sensitive samples.
vario Liquid Sampler (VLS):
The VLS automated sample feeder is used for liquid injections directly into the combustion chamber.
Sample former with pressing tool:
For the compaction of wrapped samples and the removal of air in soil samples.
Manual pressing tool:
For the manual compaction of the wrapped sample.
Our consumables kits contain all the necessary parts and chemicals for approximately 4,000 analyses, including chemicals, combustion/reduction tubes and instrument-specific wear parts. We also offer a kit with smaller wear parts, including some of the most essential O-rings and fuses used by laboratories. We do not compromise on the quality of components or chemicals in order to guarantee the longevity of our instruments.
