Wide sample matrix for environmental samples
The enviro TOC is tailored to the analysis of TOC, NPOC, TC, TIC, DOC, POC or TNb in environmental matrices. As one of the few analyzers on the market, enviro TOC offers fully automatic TOC determination in solid and liquid samples within one system. The high temperature combustion furnace with temperatures up to 1,200 °C guarantees a complete oxidation and recovery of even stable carbon compounds. In comparison to other techniques for the determination of organic contamination, the use of hazardous substances is avoided and the analysis time is only a few minutes.
Highest sample throughput thanks to intelligent instrument design
The high-throughput 60-position autosampler for 40 ml EPA vials ensures convenient processing of samples and offers unattended 24/7 routine operation. The intelligent lyticOS instrument software enables parallel rinsing and measurement, which saves time and increases the sample throughput. Furthermore, the intuitive user interface of lyticOS makes the operation, the control and results evaluation incredibly easy. In combination with the user-friendly maintenance concept, the enviro TOC ensures the most efficient routine analysis with minimum maintenance effort.
Negligible carryover and precise results
The fully automated 60-position autosampler of the enviro TOC offers integrated rinsing functions, which avoid carryover and sedimentation of particle containing samples. This leads to accurate and precise analysis results as well as longer lifetime of the affected instrument components.
Long lifetime & low running costs with SALTTRAP matrix separation
During the combustion of salt-containing samples, the salts crystallize in the combustion tube. If the crystallization occurs directly on the quartz glass or in the catalyst, their lifetime is significantly reduced. The unique SALTTRAP of the enviro TOC guarantees user-friendly maintenance intervals of the combustion tube and the catalyst even for concentrated salt solutions. This leads to significantly reduced running costs. Depending on the nature of the salt, a slight decrease in crystallization can be achieved by reducing the combustion temperature. However, only SALTTRAP guarantees truly effective glass corrosion protection because the salts are trapped directly at the point where they melt.

The enviro TOC is optimized for environmental and wastewater analysis. The following modes are available:
Liquid mode
The liquid mode offers a fully automated 60-positions autosampler. All positions can be stirred, automatically acidified, and purged. Alternatively, a cost-efficient solution with manual sample change is also available. The change between liquid mode and solid mode is very easy and takes only a few minutes.
Solid mode
The solid mode offers different autosamplers for up to 120 sample positions. Alternatively, a cost-efficient solution with manual sample change is also available. The change between liquid mode and solid mode is very easy and takes only minimum time.
Analysis method
High-temperature catalytic carbon oxidation up to 1,200 °C and CO2 detection with IR detector for TOC, NPOC, TC, TIC, POC (VOC), DOC. TNb determination simultaneously with CLD or ECD (option).
Robust furnace
Working temperatures up to 1,200 °C. Suitable and flexible temperature settings for salt-containing solutions (~720-750 °C), particle-containing solutions (850 °C), and solids (> 900 °C) with one furnace.
Autosampler for liquids
Fully automated, 60-position autosampler for 40 ml EPA vials for liquids, fully integrated into the instrument. All positions can be stirred, automatically acidified, and purged. Septa are available. Alternatively, cost-efficient solution with manual sample change. Quick and easy exchangeable with solids sample feeder.

SALTTRAP ensures low maintenance for salt-containing samples
The innovative combustion tube concept enables real matrix separation and offers maximum protection of the combustion tube. Leads to long lifetime and low running costs. Designed for analyses of salt-containing samples, particles, or other challenging sample matrices.
Innovative detectors
Customized, integrated detectors for CO2 and NO determination. Variable sample volumes allow multipoint calibration from a single standard solution and avoid dilution errors. Extraordinary linearity over a large calibration range.
In accordance with official standards
The enviro TOC works in compliance with all relevant standards for TOC, TC, TIC and TNb in liquid samples such as ISO 20236, ISO 8245, EN 1484, EN 12260, SM 5310B, EPA 415.1, and ASTM D7573. Due to the unique solids option, TOC and TC can also be determined in solids like soil or waste according to EN 15936 and ISO 10694.

Sample insertion modules for solids

TNb determination
Choice of different, integrated detectors for the simultaneous determination of total bound nitrogen (TNb).
CLD – TNb detection with a high-performance chemiluminescence detector
ECD – TNb detection with efficient electrochemical detection
TIC-determination in solids, soliTIC
Attachment for safe acid digestion of ground solids. Release of carbonates (TIC) as CO2 for the measurement with the detector of the attached enviro TOC. Convenient guidance via the lyticOS software.
Supportive tools
Choice of additional helpful tools and accessories is available, such as certified liquid TOC standards, combustion tube stand or a single standard tray for easy handling and organization of solid samples.
